Bits and Pieces

Taylor’s dinner last night consisted of four pinto beans. After being offered everything in our kitchen, she opted for pinto beans. She ate four and smeared the rest on the wall. Apparently, she wasn’t hungry. The story of my life.

The banshee is back. When Taylor was a few months old, there was a stage where she’d randomly scream at the top of her lungs. Short, happy bursts that could shatter glass. Well, the banshee is back. And my eardrums are throbbing. When do toddlers understand “inside voices”?

The highlight of my work day yesterday involved watching one of the agents smash another agent’s twinkie with a golf club. He was seeking revenge for the smashing of his organic cherry tomatoes last week. It’s impossible to have a boring day when you work with boys in their 20-somethings and 30-somethings.

On Tuesday evening, Taylor fell face first off of the side of the couch, landing flat on her back on the hardwood floors, as she was reaching for a toy on the ground. I barely flinched, picked her up, checked her for blood, and sat her back on the couch. We’re making progress on the calm, cool and collected front.

My Mom (Nanaaaaaah) is coming to town this weekend and I can barely contain myself.

We just booked tickets to go see The Wiggles in concert next weekend and I, again, can barely contain myself. If you knew Sam, Murray, Jeff, Anthony and Captain Feathersword like I do, you’d be excited too.

My current definition of euphoria is post-Taylor’s bedtime, curled up on the couch with my fluffy blanket, watching the Olympics and eating M&M’s. Life is good.
